The Pua Kiele Collection, a heartfelt tribute to the sentimental and timeless beauty of the pua kiele (gardenia).

Ka Hanu Aloha is Inspired by the past, present, and future, and this collection is dedicated in loving memory to my Mom, Laverne Mahealani Lindsey Kanakanui, and her time living in Hilo, where she lovingly raised a variety of white gardenias.

Haʻawe i ke kua; hiʻi i ke alo. A burden on the back, a babe in the arms.

This ʻŌlelo Noʻeau beautifully encapsulates a woman’s strength and nurturing spirit, symbolizing the hard work and love mothers carry every day.

Every Spring, my Mom generously shared hundreds of pua kiele with family, friends, and neighbors, spreading joy and making solid connections.

Pakalana Collection

As a young girl, I recall my grandma used to carefully grow these beautiful and delicate pua called Pakalana. They grew on vines on an old and battered fence that served as an entrance to my grandma's house from the Palama settlement gym parking lot. I used to watch

her gather the Pakalana and she would store them in a glass jar to keep its freshness. It amazed me as a young girl that they didn’t wither or die. She then would string strands and strands of lei for an upcoming special occasion. I was blessed to have received a10 strand

pakalana lei for my high school graduation. It was so beautiful and the sweet smell of the pakalana was unforgettable, lingering in the air and on my skin for days. Every time I caught a whiff of its fragrance, I felt like I was wrapped in my grandma’s love. That lei became

more than just a gift—it was a memory woven into each strand, a symbol of her care and the special moments we shared. Even now, whenever I see pakalana blooming, I remember those quiet afternoons with her and the simple joy of watching the vines flourish against

the old fence.

Iwa Iwa Collection

Growing up, my grandmother raised these beautiful and delicate foliage. I have fond memories as a child helping her turn on the MacGyver irrigation drip system my grandpa built. All one had to do was turn a single knob and this MacGyver "thing" would water 30 plus pots hanging in the back of her hale, all at one time! Genius I say, simply Genius. This print is dedicated to my grams and gramps! I love and miss you both dearly!
